Punxsutawney Phil has declared an early spring is on its way. In North Texas, that means some gorgeous weather for a season chock full of festivals and fun. Our calendars are bursting with local festivals celebrating everything from Selena and pinball machines to crawfish and reggae.
We’ve curated the best spring agenda throughout March and April. Here are nine festivals you don’t want to miss!
Dallas Blooms
February 24–April 8, 2024
Cost: Adults: $22; seniors (65+): $18; children (2-12): $13, child (under 2): free
Start the season strong with Dallas Blooms, the largest annual floral festival in the Southwest. “Spectacular” fairly describes the 500,000 blooming bulbs at the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens, including tulips, hyacinths, and daffodils. As the weather warms, visitors will also delight in striking bursts of color as azaleas and cherry trees bloom around the garden’s 66 acres on the shores of White Rock Lake in East Dallas.
Bring your brightest smiles for the 2024 theme, “A Picture’s Worth a Thousand Words,” with living selfie walls and endless picturesque vignettes. (Our favorites are found in A Woman’s Garden with its multiple sculptures, infinity pool, fountains, and elegant features.)
North Texas Irish Festival
March 1–3, 2024

Sing “Ceád Míle Fáilte” to your inner Irish spirit at the 42nd annual North Texas Irish Festival at Fair Park in Dallas, March 1–3, 2024. This family- and dog-friendly event includes traditional and contemporary Irish music and dance, as well as storytelling, arts and crafts, Irish vendors, animal shows, lots of great food options, and a fun run on Saturday morning.
Whiskey lovers, take note: Marius Donnelly, ex-proprietor of Trinity Hall Irish Pub, will help elevate your sipping game with three Irish whiskey-tasting masterclasses over the weekend. These 90-minute experiences will feature whiskies from five Irish distillers, with Donnelly delving into the distillery backstories, the whiskey flavor expressions, and connoisseur tips on catching flavor nuances.
Selena Market Fest
March 9, 2024

The Selena Market Fest will have you singing “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom” all around Main Street Garden Park on March 9, 2024. Celebrate the spirit of Selena, the late iconic queen of Latin music, in a vibrant, family-centric atmosphere. Local vendors showcase the diversity of Latinx culture, live performances will keep you on your toes, and @official_queenladyb will rule the “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom” contest. Paint classes and swag bags are available, too.
Texas Pinball Festival
March 15–17, 2024
Cost: Weekend pass, $90: adult; $60: child
Don’t miss the buzzers, bells, and lights a flashin’ at the Texas Pinball Festival at Embassy Suites & Frisco Conference Center in Frisco, March 15–17, 2024. This is the largest festival in the industry and enthusiasts will find more than 400 vintage and new pinball machines from around the country. These, as well as classic arcade games, will be set on free play for the weekend. This festival brings back cool arcade memories of summers past and offers a chill vibe, without pretension. Just folks playin’ some mean games of pinball.
Founders Day Jubilee & Cook-off
March 15–17, 2024
Cost: Free
About 38 miles southwest of Fort Worth, the Founders Day Jubilee & Cook-off is a taste of Texas fun in Historic Granbury Square, March 15–17. Bring the whole family for a bean & BBQ cook-off ($5 bean tasting kits) and come hungry for the ribs and brisket from some of the best local cookers. After the feast, waddle your way around the square for street vendors and boutique shopping, as well as live entertainment, including a DJ, square dancers, and karaoke. Historical presentations, a hot dog eating contest, and gospel music are also slated for the weekend. Don’t miss the crowning of the Bean Queen Saturday at 10 a.m.
Oddities & Curiosities Expo
March 30–31, 2024

Calling all lovers of the strange, unusual, and bizarre! The Oddities & Curiosities Expo is passing through Dallas March 30–31 at Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center. Cosplay is encouraged for attendees as they peruse vendors, dealers, artists, and small businesses of all things weird. Think ghoulish jewelry, creepy clothing, preserved specimens, one-of-a-kind artwork, antiques, handcrafted oddities, quack medical devices, funeral collectibles, and even more than Morticia Addams could dream of. Performers will entertain, and food will satiate, but don’t let that distract you from the taxidermy classes held during the expo.
Dallas Crawfish Kickoff Festival
April 6, 2024
Cost: General admission: $10; general admission + all-you-can-eat crawfish: $35; children 8 and under: free
Crawfish season is short and so is the Dallas Crawfish Kickoff Festival at just one day on Saturday, April 6. But more than 2,000 people will make it count as they celebrate mudbugs on Ferris Plaza, 400 South Houston St. The event features bands and DJs all day with a variety of vendors, in case crawfish aren’t your jam. It’ll be a full day of crawfish, music, drinks, dancing, games, food, bands, and people. The venue offers a prime downtown location, on almost an acre of shaded park grounds, so bring a folding chair or blanket to relax between buckets of mudbugs.
Dallas Reggae Festival 2024
April 12–14, 2024
Cost: Adults: $28.50+; Youth (10–15): $10+
With more than 20 live bands, two dozen local food vendors, and over 60 marketplace vendors, the Dallas Reggae Festival 2024 promises an epic experience, April 12–14, 2024. Friendly for all ages, this Dallas Midtown event aims to be filled with music, positive vibes, and a celebration of cultural equality through reggae music.
Escape to the islands with arts, crafts, and jewelry vendors, as well as Caribbean-inspired food and various artists. Don’t miss top performers Alborosie and Yellowman (Friday); Collie Buddy, Iam Tongi, Half Pint, Arise Roots, Perfect Giddimani (Saturday); and Don Carlos, Groundation, Gondwana, and Fia (Sunday).
Main Street Fort Worth Arts Festival
April 18–21, 2024

The 37th edition of the Main Street Fort Worth Arts Festival brings downtown Cowtown alive from April 18–21, 2024. This is the Lone Star State’s largest arts festival with more than 200 local, regional, and national juried artists. The annual poster is a collector’s item! Music on Main means hundreds of musicians performing throughout downtown for four days at what is also Fort Worth’s largest free music festival. Culinary arts also take center stage with everything from empanadas and arepas to funnel cakes and frozen custard available for purchase (credit cards only). We can’t wait to see you there!

Phoenix has always had a flourishing culinary scene, but over the last decade, it has truly morphed into a mecca of global flavors. Foodies are especially enamored by the celebrity chefs who have opened restaurants Valley-wide and our many James Beard Award nominees and winners — their status has helped elevate local dining experiences and brought new concepts to our neighborhoods. Angelo Sosa, Kembara and Tia Carmen
Fans of Top Chef are sure to remember chef Angelo Sosa from seasons 7 and 8 — for the last several years, he’s been bringing his bold cooking and techniques to Tia Carmen at JW Marriott Phoenix Desert Ridge Resort & Spa. This beautifully designed restaurant places his contemporary southwest cuisine front and center, with Instagram-worthy platings of ceviche tostadas with yuzu and guacamole, mushroom menudo, New York strip with a southwestern spice blend served with bone marrow, and vanilla flan with tequila caramel and Manchego cheese.
In late 2023, Chef Angelo also opened Kembara at the same resort — this swanky restaurant is a celebration of Asian street food culture, highlighting ingredients and flavors he absorbed during travels through Thailand, Hanoi, Tokyo, and Penang. He deftly marries sweet, sour, and salty elements to create such harmonious dishes as fish head curry, wagyu beef rendang, forbidden rice bowls, massaman vegetable curry, and crab fried rice.
Christopher Gross, Christopher’s at Wrigley Mansion
With accolades and awards aplenty — including winning the James Beard Award for Best Chef of the Southwest and a 2022 James Beard Award nomination for Outstanding Chef — Chef Christopher is best known for the modern twist he puts on French fare. He has cooked for Presidents Gerald Ford, Ronald Reagan, and George Bush and has graced Phoenix with his culinary genius for more than 40 years (longtime locals will remember Christopher’s Fermier and Christopher’s and Crush Lounge in the Biltmore Fashion Park).
Chef Christopher’s newest restaurant, Christopher’s at Wrigley Mansion, is a compilation of his global culinary experiences, set in a 1930s hilltop mansion with sweeping views of the Phoenix skyline through the floor-to-ceiling windows. Enjoy small plates and cocktails at the chef’s counter or on the patio, and don’t miss the house smoked salmon, roasted red bell pepper soup, liberty duck (a sautéed breast and confit leg), and caviar with fresh blinis.
Scott Conant, Mora Italian and The Americano
He may be a finicky judge on Chopped, but that expectation for perfection is carried through in Scott Conant’s own cooking. The Food Network star has made frequent guest appearances on “The Today Show,” “Rachael Ray Show,” “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” and “Good Morning America,” among others. He is also a two-time James Beard Award-winning chef and cookbook author — his latest book is “Peace, Love & Pasta.”
Located on 7th street, a neighborhood filled with many Phoenix favorites, is Mora Italian. Showcasing Conant’s contemporary approach to Italian cooking, must-try dishes include his signature pasta pomodoro, citrus-fennel dusted branzino, fritto misto, and pork and veal meatballs. At The Americano in Scottsdale, more of an Italian-inspired steakhouse, order the braised wagyu beef cheeks, seafood tower, tagliatelle wagyu Bolognese, or a ribeye or tomahawk from their mesquite and pecan wood-burning grill.
Beau MacMillan, CALA Scottsdale
Food Network star chef Beau MacMillan has been a fixture in Valley kitchens for more than two decades. But you may also know him from appearances on “Beat the Chefs,” “The Next Iron Chef” and “Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives” not to mention when he co-hosted the show “Worst Cooks in America.”
Many will remember his years as the executive chef for Sanctuary Resort at Camelback Mountain, but these days you’ll find him at Cala Scottsdale (on the ground floor of boutique hotel Senna House), his latest venture with Clive Collective in Old Town Scottsdale. This restaurant offers diners a Mediterranean aesthetic with authentic coastal cuisine and flavors from Greece, Spain, Italy, and Morocco. In October 2023, he and Clive Collective announced a new restaurant concept in partnership with chef Scott Conant — it’s called Tell Your Friends and is set to open in spring 2024.
Chris Bianco, Pizzeria Bianco
The man, the myth, the legend: Chris Bianco is a two-time James Beard Award-Winning chef and restaurateur who knows a thing or two about pizza — many Phoenicians agree his Pizzeria Bianco is the best in town (and has been since 1987). Bianco focuses on simple ingredients and old-world techniques, using a wood-fired oven and wowing patrons with his homemade mozzarella cheese. The restaurant is small, so don’t be surprised if you have to wait in line.
There are two locations in Phoenix, one downtown in Heritage Square and another at Town & Country near the Biltmore. At Pane Bianco Central, Chris serves up focaccia sandwiches baked to order, fresh loaves of bread, and NY-style pizzas by the slice. Finally, Tratto, his Italian and Southwestern-inspired trattoria on Van Buren is the place to be for date night — there’s a rotating menu with mouthwatering dishes each week.
